Greensburg- David Eugene Allen, 70, passed away December 28th, 2020 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas in the presence of his loving family. He was born April 4, 1950 in Wichita, Kansas to James and Joyce (Brown) Allen. David was a 1968 Graduate of Greensburg High School and continued his education at Hutchinson Community College majoring in automotive, finishing his education at Fort Hays State University with a degree in Agriculture Business. He was united in marriage to Twila (Maier) Allen on August 14th, 1971 in Russell, Kansas. They shared 49 years together and have three loving daughters. He is survived by his wife Twila Allen of the home, daughters Tiffany and husband Tony Zink of Claflin, Kansas, Tonya and husband Patrick Greenleaf of Wilmore, Kansas, and Tasha and husband Chris Gonzalez of Hesston, Kansas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; Colton and wife Peyton Zink of Hoisington, Kansas, Callie and Cord Zink of Claflin, Kansas, Regan and James Greenleaf of Wilmore, Kansas and step grandson Kaden Weber-Gonzalez of Newton, Kansas, Karter, Kannon and Kamryn Gonzalez of Hesston, Kansas. He is also expecting his first great grandchild in 2021. David has been an active member in the Kiowa County community over the years serving on the Kiowa County Farm Bureau Board, the Kiowa County Fair Board, the Kiowa County Soil Conservation Board, he was also a USD 422 School Board member and served as a Chairman for the Kiowa County Democratic Committee. He valued education, enjoyed reading, watching sports, and especially loved following his grandkids in all their activities, whether it be a school program, volleyball, football, basketball, baseball, track and field or wrestling. He was always the grandkid’s biggest fan. Those that knew him, know how much he also loved to talk and tell a great story, in fact he, “never let truth get in the way for a good story.” He was preceded in death by his parents James and Joyce Allen. Memorial graveside services and celebration of David’s life will be held 1:30 pm Saturday January 2, 2021 in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg with Pastor Chu presiding. Social distancing and masks are requested. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Kansas Heart Hospital or Kiowa County 4-H in care of Fleener Funeral Home, PO Box 41, Greensburg, Kansas 67054.
