Greensburg- Della May Bertram passed away November 15, 2015 in Pratt, Kansas. She was born May 29, 1916 to Winfield S. and Ellen (Dunn) Haley in Olpe, Kansas. Della grew up on a farm and attended a rural school and church. She continued her education at Emporia Business College, received her diploma and was secretary to the city Attorney. In 1938, Della met and married Galen Arthur Bertram at Chadron, Nebraska. She traveled with her husband who had a dance band until 1941. She returned to the family farm in Greensburg, Kansas with their young son to await Galen’s return from training military pilots for World War II combat. Della was a partner with her husband in their family farm and Arial spraying business. She retired in 1981 after the death of her husband. Della enjoyed travel, reading, music, gardening and her community memberships, which included the First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and the Agenda and Pricilla Clubs, all of Greensburg. She will be remembered for her kind gentle spirit and her ability to live with thankfulness. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Galen, a son Philip Bertram, four brothers Hubert, Walter, Harold and Eugene Haley, four sisters Martha Jones, Nina Anderson, Ann Haley, and Bette Crump. She is survived by a son Gary Bertram and wife Sueanne, Pratt, Kansas, a grandson Noel Bertram, Wichita, Kansas, one brother Glenn Haley, Derby, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Funeral Service and Celebration of Della’s life will be held 10:30 am Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Fleener Funeral Home, Greensburg, with pastor Terry Mayhew officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Samaritans Purse and the Salvation Army, in care of Fleener Funeral Home, 514 S. Main St., Greensburg, Kansas 67054.
