Greensburg – Dolores M. Miller, “Dee,” passed away March 28, 2016 due to complications arising from recent injuries. She had been receiving skilled-nursing care in Pratt. Dolores was born August 13, 1932 at the family home in La Fountain, Kansas, to parents Bertha and Albert Goodwin. Attending early grade school in La Fountain, she subsequently completed middle school in Dodge City then attended high school in Ensign – earning a Kansas State High School Equivalency Diploma at Greensburg in 1979. Dolores met her future husband, LaVern “Red” Miller, at a western dance in Dodge City. They married on August 6, 1950, settling into LaVern’s family farm located southwest of Greensburg. A daughter, Cynthia “Cindy,” was born May 29, 1951, with a son, Charles “Chuck,” joining the family November 28, 1955. Dolores was a homemaker, also achieving a 10 Year Service Award for working at Duckwalls Variety Store. She enjoyed volunteer work – assisting with children’s Sunday School, Care & Share Thrift Store, and Kiowa County Senior Center. Dolores was a member of the Greensburg Rebekah Lodge, Greensburg Christian Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Big Well Campers. Dolores was proceeded in death by her father Albert; mother Bertha and husband Jess Rickman; husband LaVern; brothers George, Kenny, and Tommy Goodwin; sisters Florence DeVault and Vivian Drake; and granddaughter Bandi Miller. Survivors include daughter Cindy and husband Mike League; grandsons Michael League and wife Lauren, Matthew League and wife Loren, granddaughter Sara (League) and husband David Burnham; son Chuck Miller; grandson Jamie Miller-Pike and wife Tori; together with numerous great-grandchildren. Family and friend viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday April 4, 2016, at Fleener Funeral Home, 514 South Main in Greensburg, Kansas. A flower and memorial reading will commence at 9:15 am on Tuesday April 5, at the Greensburg Christian Church, 1210 South Main in Greensburg – with the memorial service starting at 10:30 am. Graveside services at Fairview Cemetery will follow, with a subsequent friendship-meal being served at the Greensburg Christian Church. Memorials are suggested for the Kiowa County Senior Center or Care & Share Thrift Store, in care of Fleener Funeral Home.
