Dorothy Fern Sanders

Hays- Dorothy Fern Sanders, 97, died March 4, 2025, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse, Kansas. She was born October 27, 1927, in Parsons, Kansas the daughter of Everett and Thelma (Bones) Pearson. Dorothy graduated from Caney High School in 1945. She had retired as a bookkeeper for the Greensburg State Bank, Greensburg, Kansas. Dorothy had lived in Parsons, Altamont, Caney, Chanute, Protection, Greensburg until the 2007 tornado, then moving to Medicine Lodge, and Hays, Kansas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Greensburg. On February 12, 1950, Dorothy married Ron Sanders in Protection. He preceded her in death June 23, 2016. She is survived by a son Stan Sanders (Julie Augustiro), Honolulu, Hawaii, a daughter Rhonda Eberle, Hays, three Grandchildren Jason Eberle (Lianne), Reno, Nevada, Matt Eberle, Hays, Toni Caraway (Nesby), Topeka, Kansas, a Great-grandson Saylor Caraway (Natalie), Topeka and a great-great granddaughter Rowan Caraway. Dorothy is also preceded in death by a son-in-law Del Eberle, a brother Merle Pearson and a sister Nina Powers. Funeral Services and Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be 10:30 am, Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Fleener Funeral Home, 514 S. Main St., Greensburg, with Rev. Chris Prater officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg. Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the First Baptist Church, 1111 Fort St., Hays, KS, or in care of Fleener Funeral Home, PO Box 41, Greensburg, KS 67054-0041.
