Greensburg- Helen Jeane Koehn, 78, died March 4, 2023, in Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg. She was born August 10, 1944, in Ellsworth, Kansas, the daughter of Glenn and Velma (Tedman) Bates. Helen had lived in Lorraine, Kansas and Greensburg since 1950. She graduated from Greensburg High School and completed courses at Salt City Business College, Hutchinson, Kansas. On September 21, 1963, Helen married Jerry D. Koehn in Greensburg. To this union two children were born, Lisa Michelle and Jeffrey Lee. Jerry preceded her in death December 16, 2008. Helen worked for C.R.’s Dairy Delight, Coberly’s, Hildinger’s, Duckwall’s and alongside Jeff at Home Lumber, all of Greensburg. She was a charter member of the Ranger Booster Club, a Girl Scout Leader of Troop #283 , a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Star of Hope Chapter, Greensburg. Helen fought hard to beat cancer. She is survived by a daughter Lisa and husband Mike Hayes, Greensburg, a son Jeffrey and wife Karin Koehn, Blue Springs, Missouri, two Grandchildren Kimberlyn Hayes and Chase Hayes, both of Greensburg, a brother Norman Lee Bates, Conroe, Texas, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law Beverly Kay Bates. A memorial Graveside service will be held 2:00 pm, Friday March 10, 2023, in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg with Rev. Jeffrey D. Blackburn presiding. There will be a time of visiting after the service in the Greensburg Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall.
