Sedgwick- Helen R. Blake, 101, died May 18, 2015 at DiversiCare of Sedgwick, Kansas. She was born September 29, 1913 in rural Stanton County, Kansas, the daughter of Jacob and Nettie (Base) Zerger. She was a housekeeper for the J-Hawk Best Western Motel and the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, both of Greensburg, and a member of the Greensburg Mennonite Church. On May 2, 1942 Helen married Robert Blake in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death September 27, 1967. She is survived by five sons Robert Blake and wife Judy, Gastonia, North Carolina, Stanley Blake, Washington, Bill Blake and wife Patti, Oregon, Thomas Blake and wife Beverly, Wichita, Kansas, Dennis Blake and wife Denise, Andover, Kansas, one daughter Glenda Hooper and husband Richard, Hutchinson, Kansas, fourteen Grandchildren, fourteen Great-grandchildren and numerous Great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by six brothers Arthur, Henry, Elmer, Ernest, Ralph and Albert Zerger. Graveside Funeral Service and Celebration of Helen’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg, with Rev. Jeffrey D. Blackburn officiating.
