Joan Philpott

Haviland- Joan Philpott passed away on July 4th, 2022 in Pratt, Kansas. She was born November 15, 1933 in Haviland, Kansas, the only child of Henry “Hank” and Maude McMaken. She went to school in Haviland and graduated from Haviland High School in 1951. Joan married Victor Philpott on January 31, 1953. He preceded her in death November 3, 2013. Four children born from this union. Keith and wife Ronda (Ross) Philpott, Olathe, Kansas; Debbie Philpott, Sunrise Beach, Missouri; Stephanie (Philpott) and husband Robert Johnson, Wilsonville, Oregon. A son Christopher Philpott preceded her in death on April 23, 2001. Joan spent her career as a secretary for the Haviland High School where she enjoyed meeting the kids and entertaining her family with stories of student escapades. Joan was active in the Haviland United Methodist Church where she played the piano and sang in the choir. Joan enjoyed coffee time with her friends and being part of the Jr. SOS social club. Burial will be 11:00 am Thursday July 7, 2022 in the Haviland Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will be held on September 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the Haviland United Methodist Church.
