John B. Rush

Former Bartlesville resident John B Rush, 96, died June 5, 2016 in Spring Texas. He was born in Haviland Kansas on August 14, 1919 to Arthur Denny Rush and Mary Olive Newlin Rush. John graduated from Haviliand High School, and received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Kansas State University in 1941. After graduation he started working at Philips Petroleum Company, but in 1943 he left to serve as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and continued to serve in the Naval Reserve after he left active duty. After the war he returned to Philips where he worked as a Chemical Engineer for a total of 44 years until his retirement in 1986. John married Veradean Hutchison in October, 1952. They were active members of First United Methodist Church, Bartlesville for many years. After retirement, John and Veradean remained active for many years, traveling in the US and Europe, and enjoying their grandchildren. John is survived by his children Carolyn Rush Richardson and husband Mark Richardson, and John David Rush and wife Stacey Rush; grandchildren Mary Katherine Richardson, Maura Jane Richardson, and John Rush Richardson. John was predeceased by his wife Veradean, as well as his parents, and siblings Oren Rush, Miriam Einsel, Arthur Rush, Lucy Rush, and Newlin Rush. A funeral service for John was held in Haviland, Kansas, 10:30 a.m. on June 18, 2016, at the Haviland United Methodist Church, followed by burial in the Haviland Cemetery.
