Haviland- Judith Ann DeGarmo, 77, died April 11, 2020 at Pratt Rehab and Residence Center, Pratt, Kansas. She was born August 27, 1942 in Greensburg, Kansas the daughter of Truman Roosevelt and Irene (Waltrip) Higgins. Judy graduated from Haviland High School in 1960. She had lived in Belvidere and Haviland, Kansas. She was a member of the Haviland United Methodist Church, the Haviland Fire Department, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Greensburg. On November 6, 1960 Judy married Alvin DeGarmo in Haviland. He survives. Other survivors include three sons Jesse DeGarmo and friend Lawanna Lemons, Topeka, Kansas, James “Brad” DeGarmo, Haviland, Jason and wife Shelli DeGarmo, Hutchinson, Kansas, five Grandchildren and seven Great-grandchildren. Judy’s activities included helping Alvin feed cattle, working in the Belvidere Station, The Haviland Pharmacy, The Corner Grocery, Haviland, and the Haviland Hardware Store, and was the manager at College Hill Apartments, Haviland, for six years. She was a member of the Dancing Raisins group and the Library Ladies. She served on the Haviland Fire Department and served in the church on several committees, was song leader, youth group leader and taught Sunday School. Judy’s favorite titles were Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandma. A private family graveside service will be held in Haviland Cemetery with Pastor Mark Fillmore presiding. A memorial service will be set for a future date and the family requests that family and friends send flowers at that time. Memorials are suggested to the Haviland United Methodist Church in care of Fleener Funeral Home, PO Box 41, Greensburg, Kansas 67054.
