Kenneth L. Banta

Greensburg- Kenneth L. Banta, 82, died November 8, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. He was born August 4, 1934 in Greensburg, Kansas, the son of Charles Lewis and Pearl Regina (Thompson) Banta. Kenny graduated from Greensburg High School in 1953 and joined the United States Navy. After serving his country he worked for Dillons, and Cities Service Natural Gas Company as a compressor mechanic, retiring on December 30, 1989. He was a member and Past Grand Master of Kiowa Masonic Lodge #293, Greensburg. He also belonged to the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was an officer for the Elks Lodge in Joplin, Missouri. He was a charter member of the Sandhill Archery Club. He was a member of the Greensburg Christian Church, and loved to go to the Kiowa County Senior Center. On September 27, 1973, Kenny married Peggy Robertson Diemart in Greensburg. She survives. Other survivors include two sons Mick Banta (Tammy) and Jerry Diemart, a daughter Regina Aldredge (James), one brother Frank Clair Banta, five Grandchildren Tiffany and Ashley Diemart, Corey and Mallory Banta and Kaleb Hamilton, eight Great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, one brother Don Banta and a sister Evon Boyles. Memorial service and celebration of Kenny’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Greensburg Christian Church with Pastor Jonathon Harrison presiding. Friends may visit the family from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, at Fleener Funeral Home.
