Greensburg- Lois “Granny” Morehead, 78, died July 22, 2017 at Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg, Kansas. She was born May 24, 1939 in Cottonwood, Oklahoma the daughter of Lymon Washington and Jewel Lee (Calloway) Edwards. Lois graduated from Coalgate High School, Coalgate, Oklahoma. She was co-owner and operator of the Kansan Restaurant, Greensburg for twenty years and a dispatcher for the Kiowa County Sherriff’s Office for twenty years. She had also worked as a telephone operator in Wichita, Kansas, and a clerk at Kwik Shop and the J-Hawk Best Western Motel both of Greensburg. Her memberships include co-founder and secretary of the Triangle Rodeo Club, Greensburg, the Kansas Restaurant Association and Kansas Dispatchers Association. She was a proud supporter of the Greensburg Rangers, the Kiowa County Mavericks, and the South Central Timberwolves. On March 28, 1959 Lois married Gerald Morehead in Wichita. He survives. Other survivors include two sons Bryan (Cinda) Morehead and Rocky (Michele) Morehead, all of Greensburg, a daughter Terra Morehead (Dennis Davis), Kansas City, Kansas, seven grandchildren Cheyenne, Lymon, Gerald, Dalton, Chelsi, Nicki, and Cody, one brother George “Butch” Edwards (Gina Casalone), St. Louis, Missouri, and a sister-in-law June Edwards, Wichita. There were many other friends and family members who adored and loved Lois. Although her Grandchildren know her as “Granny”, she made countless others feel as though she was their “Granny” too. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Lawrence “Gabby” Edwards and Lymon Edwards, and a sister Bertha Hobson. A memorial service and celebration of Lois’s life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday July 29, 2017 at the Greensburg Mennonite Church, Greensburg with Rev. Jeffrey D. Blackburn presiding. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to We Can Make a Difference (a local cancer support group) in care of Fleener Funeral Home, PO Box 41, Greensburg, KS 67054.
