Ford- Maurita M. Johnson, 89, died August 13, 2021 in Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. She was born October 10, 1931 in Dodge City, Kansas, the daughter of Edward and Esther (Lye) Weiss. Maurita graduated from Dodge City High School in 1950. She was a homemaker and had worked in public school food service. Maurita had lived in Dodge City, Ft. Collins, Colorado, Seattle, Washington, New Orleans, Louisiana, Rockford, Illinois, Houston, Texas, and Ford, Kansas. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Offerle, Kansas. On June 15, 1950 Maurita married George Fowler, Jr.. He preceded her in death. On March 3, 1964 she married Tom Johnson in Las Vegas, Nevada. He survives. She is also survived by two sons Matthew Johnson and wife Dianna and Anthony Thomas Johnson, all of Houston, two daughters Fae Rita Wardle, Kinsley, Kansas and Michelle Fowler, Ford, four Grandchildren and four Great-grandchildren, and a sister Norma Holtfrerich, Austin, Texas. Maurita was also preceded by a sister Leona Anderson. Funeral services and celebration of Maurita’s life will be held 10:30 am Monday, August 16, 2021 in the Zion Lutheran Church, Offerle with Rev. Stanley Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
