Greensburg- Mildred Elane Schmidt, 94, died August 25, 2013 at Pratt regional Medical Center, Pratt, Kansas. She was born June 15, 1919 in Protection, Kansas, the daughter of Noah and Elizabeth Pearl (Schrock) Zimmerman. Mildred was a homemaker and made and sold pies weekly on Main street in Greensburg. She graduated from Greensburg High School in 1938. She lived on the family farm south of Greensburg until her husband’s death, then moved into Greensburg. Her memberships included the Greensburg Mennonite Church, the United Society of Mennonite Women, and was a 4-H leader teaching kids cooking and square dancing. On July 15, 1938 Mildred married Cecil Schmidt in Greensburg. He preceded her in death July 17, 1983. She is survived by one daughter Dianne Murray, Greensburg, a sister Stella Johnson, Renton, Washington, three grandsons Christopher Murray, Mullinville, Kansas, Brad Murray, Greensburg, and Levi Murray, Pratt, three great-grandchildren Wesley, Alexus and Austin. She was also preceded in death by a son Ron Schmidt. Funeral services and celebration of Mildred’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Greensburg Mennonite Church, Greensburg, with Rev. Jeffrey D. Blackburn presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg. A visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Fleener Funeral Home.
