INMAN—Ralph Schmidt, 93, died July 6, 2014 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born August 3, 1920, in Greensburg, Kansas, the son of Pete and Anna Schmidt.
He was a lifetime farmer growing up on a farm near Mullinville, Kansas and later extending his farming to Wilmore, Kansas. On May 26, 1945 Ralph married Lillian Koehn. She preceded him in death in 2008. They lived near Wilmore until moving to Greensburg in 1981. In 2007 they moved to Inman, Kansas.
In addition to his wife, Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Norman Eugene Schmidt, four brothers, Willie, Al, Carl, and Arnie Schmidt, and three sisters, Alice Schmidt, Margaret Peaster and Freida Jantz. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Ralph.
Funeral service and celebration of Ralph’s life will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Greensburg Mennonite Church, Greensburg, with Rev. Jeffrey D. Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview cemetery, Greensburg. Memorials are suggested to the Greensburg Mennonite Church in care of Fleener Funeral Home, 514 S. Main St., Greensburg, Kansas, 67054.
