Mullinville- Rebecca Jean (Price) McFadden passed away at Hill Top House, Bucklin, KS on July 29th, 2023.
Rebecca was born, November 11, 1934, in rural Kiowa County, northwest of Mullinville, KS, the third child of Harold Lee and Virgie Maxine (Stein) Price. She had an identical twin sister, Ramona Maxine. On August 30, 1953, she married Kenneth E. McFadden. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2010.
Rebecca attended and graduated from Mullinville High School with the class of 1952. She worked for the Dillions Store in Greensburg, was a substitute school bus driver, worked at the Mullinville school lunchroom, and became a Postal Clerk in 1977. On April 18, 1980, she was appointed as Mullinville Postmaster. She loved her job and the people that she served. She retired January 27, 1997. She also supported her husband and family with the operation of the family farm.
She was a member of the Mullinville United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School many years and held various other positions within the Church. She was a member of OES-St Brenard Chapter #97, Dodge City, and a 4-H leader for several years. Her family, parents, brothers, and sisters, and especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were her life.
Her survivors include her two daughters, Monica Hayse (Dale), Mullinville, KS, Brenda Murray (Doug), Metropolis, IL, two sons, Boyd McFadden (June), Mullinville, KS, and Murray McFadden, Lexington, NE. Grandchildren: Nicholas Murray (Sarah), Metamora, IL., Gentry Quint (Jared), Metropolis, IL, Lukas McFadden, friend Becky, Mullinville, KS, Christopher McFadden (Christina), Mullinville, KS, Cody McFadden, friend Khelsey, Lexington, NE, Ryan McFadden (Julie), Lexington, NE., Tawny McFadden, Lexington, NE, Heather McFadden, Lexington, NE, and Darren Hayse (Caitlin), Mullinville, KS. Eighteen great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Virgil Price, Dodge City and two sisters, Rita Johnson (Lowell), Sioux City, IA and Clara Brown, Lee’s Summit, MO, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, Walter, Jack, and Larry Price and her identical twin sister Ramona Blalock.
Funeral services will be held at the Mullinville United Methodist Church at 10:30 am on Wed., August 2, with Pastors Jeff Blackburn and Alex Karimu officiating. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Mullinville, KS. A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, at the church.
Memorials may be given to Mullinville United Methodist Church, Kiowa County Senior Citizen’s Center or Spina Bifida Association of Kansas in care of the Fleener Funeral Home, 514 S. Main, PO Box 41, Greensburg, Kansas 67054.
