Hutchinson – Richard “Richie” Olen Davis, husband and father, passed from this life on November 17th, 2020. He was born January 1st, 1949 in Pratt, KS to Margaret Helena (Konkel) Davis and Olen “Dutch” Davis. He had 4 siblings; Raine Davis died at birth, Kent Dale Davis (Tammy McNutt) of Hutchinson, KS, Dannice (Eddie) Guzman of Topeka, KS, and Ronda (Glenn) Monaghan of Haviland, KS. On March 4th, 1972 he married the love of his life, Paula Adele Tuttle. They have 2 sons; Travis Eugene Davis born July 5th, 1972 and Waco Dean Davis born July 1st, 1976. He was preceded in death by a sister Raine Davis on December 2nd, 1952, his father on July 11th, 1962 and his mother on April 11th, 1999. Richard attended Haviland High School, Pratt Junior College, and Fort Hays State College. He was a Farm Bureau Insurance Agent in Greensburg for years before transitioning into operating his own independent agency. He also drove a truck for Plains Marketing and sold cars for Doug Reh Chevrolet. Richard served on various boards in Greensburg and was a Board Member of the Haviland Heritage Foundation. Richie first and foremost was a husband, standing beside his wife Paula and her 40+ year battle with Multiple Sclerosis and equally a father, mentor to his sons. His passion was cool cars and drag racing both of which are a family obsession and he loved talking about it with anyone. “Some men are Baptist, others Catholic; our old man was a Chevrolet Man!” A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 10:30 on Tuesday, November 24th at Haviland Friends Church, with John Hamm presiding, and a private family inurnment at a later date. Please wear your favorite car or racing shirt. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Hilltop Manor Nursing Center in Cunningham, the Richard Davis Fund with the Haviland Heritage Foundation, or the SRCA Dragstrip in care of Fleener Funeral Home, PO Box 41, Greensburg, KS 67054.
