Greensburg- Ruby Ellen Thompson, 89, died May 14, 2018 at the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg, Kansas. She was born July 15, 1928 in Almartha, Missouri, the daughter of George Eddie and Elsie Pearl (Freeman) Fry. Ruby had lived in Missouri, Macksville, Kansas, California, Pratt, Kansas and Greensburg since 1947. She was a homemaker and cook at the school lunchroom. Her memberships include the Greensburg Christian Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary and was active at the Kiowa County Senior Center, all of Greensburg. On September 12, 1944 Ruby married James Thompson in Pratt. He preceded her in death November 1, 2014. She is survived by two sons Phil Thompson and wife Harvelan, Amarillo, Texas and Jim Thompson and wife Rhonda, Ford, Kansas, a daughter Arlene Brown, Coldwater, Kansas and numerous Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren and Great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded by eight brothers Ben, Calvin, Daniel, John, Charlie, Lev, David and Ed Fry and two sisters Frances Bates and Dorothy Fry. Funeral services and celebration of Ruby’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 18, at the Greensburg Christian Church, Greensburg with Rev. Carl Helm and pastor Jon Harrison presiding. Burial Will Follow in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg. A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Fleener Funeral Home, Greensburg.
