Greensburg- Steven Allen Gardner, 69, died December 27, 2019 at Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg, Kansas. He was born May 11, 1950 in Greensburg, the son of Claude E. and Pearl D. (Boman) Gardner. Steve grew up in Greensburg, lived in Great Bend and McPherson a short time, returning to Greensburg, moving to Hopewell in 2007. He was a truck driver for the Co-op in Greensburg, retiring after 41 years. He was a member of the American Motorcyclist’s Association. On June 14, 1969 Steve married Betty Jo Hall in Greensburg. She survives. Other survivors include one son Kevan and wife Katrina Gardner, Hutchinson, Kansas, one daughter Kim and husband Kenneth Hottovy, Trousdale, Kansas, one brother Earl and wife Ann Gardner, Pratt, Kansas, one sister Mary Lee Thomas, Blackwell, Oklahoma, eight Grandchildren Candice and husband Matt Martin, Ashley and husband Ryan Holt, Dane Gardner, McKinley Hottovy, Kaylee Hottovy, Nate Gardner, Emma Jo Hottovy and Bennett Gardner, four Great-grandchildren Jordan, Jackson and Maeble Holt and Derek Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Steven Gardner, Jr., and a grandson Raney James Hottovy, a brother Charles Gardner, two sisters Winona Ellis and Nora Elizabeth Gardner, and a brother-in-law Dale Thomas. Memorial graveside services and celebration of Steve’s life will be held 1:30 pm Thursday January 2, 2020 in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg with Pastor Mark Dirks officiating. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, and the American Red Cross, all in care of Fleener Funeral Home, PO Box 41, Greensburg, Kansas 67054-0041.
