Haviland- T.C. Dawson, 47, died January 25, 2022 in rural Kiowa County, Kansas. He was born October 9, 1974 in Paola, Kansas the son of Marion Harve “Sweede” Dawson and Karlyn (Edlin) Hays. TC had lived in Wellsville, Edgerton, Argonia and Haviland, Kansas. He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1993, attended Colby County Community College and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University. He was the County Executive Director for the Farm Service Agency in Greensburg and Ashland, Kansas. TC was passionate about Youth Rodeo and enjoyed working with and judging Youth Rodeo events. He was a member of the KPRA and USTRC and attended the Haviland Friends Church, Haviland. On June 28, 2014 TC married Mary (Jenkins) Melton in Greensburg. She survives. Other survivors include a son Colton Dawson, Haviland, his mother Karlyn Hays and step-father Bill Hays, Missouri, one step son Kendal Melton, Colorado, two step daughters Heather King and husband Alex, Colorado and Hannah Melton, Hutchinson, Kansas, and a half sister Cindy Sue Dawson. Funeral Services and celebration of TC’s life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Haviland Friends Church with Pastors Todd Follette and Dave Norman presiding. Burial will follow in Soldier Creek Cemetery, Belvidere, Kansas. A visitation will be held 5-7 pm Friday at Fleener Funeral Home, 514 S Main St., Greensburg. Memorials are suggested to Heartland Youth Rodeo Association, Kingman, Kansas and the TC Dawson Memorial Scholarship through the KPRA, both in care of Fleener Funeral Home, PO Box 41, Greensburg, KS 67054.
