Haviland- Victor Rex Philpott, 84, died November 3, 2013 at the Pratt Rehabilitation Center, Pratt, Kansas. He was born May 25, 1929 in Kinsley, Kansas, the son of Charles Horatio and Mable Theresa (Johnson) Philpott. He graduated from Haviland High School and attended Oklahoma University. Vic served in the U.S. Army, a veteran of the Korean War. He had lived in Nebraska, Haviland and Pratt since 2011. He worked at several jobs mostly as a laborer in the agriculture industry. He was a member of the Haviland United Methodist Church and the American Legion, both of Haviland. On January 31, 1953 Vic married Joan McMaken in Haviland. She survives. Other survivors include a son Keith Philpott and wife Ronda, Olathe, Kansas, two daughters Debra Philpott and husband Bill Baughman, Belle Plaine, Kansas and Stephanie Johnson and husband Robert, Topeka, Kansas, a sister Gladys Schmidt and husband Lloyd, Hillsboro, Kansas, three Grandchildren Brock Johnson, Silverthorne, Colorado, Brooke Arthur and husband Andrew, Eugene, Oregon, and Brittani Johnson, Topeka, three Great-grandchildren Braedyn, Ellie and Audrey Arthur. He was preceded in death by a son Christopher Philpott on April 23, 2001, and four brothers, Howard, Donald Larry and Eddie and three sisters Gertrude, Wyona and Thressa. Memorial services and celebration of Vic’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the Haviland United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark Fillmore officiating.
